And this week there's a host of supermarkets and chains offering eggs for less after Asda stopped stocking them for 60p.

The retailer slashed prices by more than half from £1.25 last week, but the deal ended yesterday.

We've scoured the shelves to find the least expensive place to buy Cadbury, Lindt and Nestle eggs so you don't have to.

Bear in mind, the prices we found are based on online prices and may not be the same in your local branch.

Prices can also vary day-to-day and supermarkets can choose to put certain items on offer.

And of course, remember to shop around when buying the sweet treats as you might find them cheaper than we did.

For example, websites like trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on thousands of products across different retailers to find the best deals.

There's also Price Spy and Price Runner which let you compare prices on thousands of products.

Price Spy even lets you track how much a certain item has sold for across the last year as well so you can figure out if you're getting the best price now.

Lindt

Two major supermarkets have slashed prices on a number of Lindt chocolate Easter eggs this week.

Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar card customers can get reduced rates on the sweet treats.

You can sign up to either loyalty scheme for free and download the app on to your smartphone, or ask for a physical card.

Both schemes offer points on your purchases which can be used to get money off future shops.

Tesco is selling a 260g Lindor white chocolate egg with white chocolate truffles for £10, and £12.50 for shoppers without a Clubcard.

The next cheapest options after that are Asda and Ocado, which are both selling the egg for £12.

Sainsbury's and Tesco are also both selling a 260g Lindor milk chocolate egg with salted caramel truffles for £10 for loyalty card shoppers.

After that, the next cheapest supermarkets are Ocado and Asda which are selling it for £12, then Morrisons which has it for £12.50.

Sainsbury's is also selling a 195g Lindt gold bunny milk chocolate egg for £9 to anyone with a Nectar card.

Tesco is selling the same egg for £10 while Morrisons and Ocado are both selling it for the same price point.

Cadbury

If you're after cheap Cadbury eggs, there's a few different supermarkets offering the best prices this week.

Despite Asda axing its deal offering 60p eggs on March 10, it's still the cheapest place to buy a 96g Freddo Easter egg.

It comes with a small egg and selection of iconic Freddo chocolates inside and is on sale for £1.25.

The next cheapest options are Morrisons, Iceland, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Ocado which are all selling it for £1.50.

Tesco is also selling a 241g Cadbury Dairy milk Twirl egg box for £3.50 to Clubcard customers, making it the cheapest out of a number of retailers this week.

If you're looking to buy in bulk, it might be worth heading to Asda or Ocado.

Asda is running a four for £10 offer on plenty of its Cadbury eggs. We spotted at least nine varieties where you can snap up the offer.

Shoppers can buy a Twirl egg box, Mini Egg box and Caramel box too.

Ocado is also running a similar deal where foodies can pick up two eggs for £5 instead of £3 each, saving £1.

Both offers mean you are getting the eggs for £2.50 each, but bear in mind you'll have to buy at least two or four so you'll end up spending more overall than if you had bought one individually.

Nestle

If you're after cheap Nestle chocolate eggs this week, again, there's a few stores you could head to.

Asda is selling a 190g KitKat Chunky egg box for £3, the same as Tesco and Ocado.

Meanwhile, Morrisons and Iceland are the next cheapest option, selling it for £3.25 and £3.50 respectively.

Asda, Tesco and Ocado are also the cheapest supermarkets if you want to pick up a 188g Smarties milk chocolate egg.

All three retailers are selling it for £3 while Morrisons and Sainsbury's both have it in stock for £3.25.

Asda is also selling a giant 522g Yorkie Easter egg for £10 ahead of Tesco and Ocado which are selling it for £12.

You could save by buying in bulk as well.

Asda's four for £10 offer extends to a number of Nestle eggs, including the 190g KitKat Chunky and Smarties varieties.

Shoppers can also pick up four 202g Munchies milk chocolate eggs for £10.

In other news, Cadbury is giving away a "free" Cadbury Easter egg for £12.

Plus, a new Terry's Chocolate Orange flavour that "taste better than the original" has shoppers buzzing.
