When did Dale Bowes die?

On April 10, 2024 it was announced that Dale Bowes had died aged just 28 in the early hours of the morning.

"There were no more treatment options for Dale as he had become too unwell.

"Dale was transferred to the care of St Gemma’s Hospice and returned home.

"Within a week, Dale was placed on an oxygen machine at home. Dale continued to get worse until he was admitted into St Gemma’s Hospice on the 25th of March 2024 for end-of-life care.

"Dale continued to fight despite all of the odds and is an inspiration to us all."

Dale joined Steph's packed lunch as a Lunchmate in 2023, with his final show in December that year.

At the time he posted: "It's been a pleasure being part of @PackedLunchC4 this year.

"Today was my final show. I want to say a huge thanks to all my family who have supported me, my friends who have followed my journey on the show and watched some of the episodes and to all of the viewing public who have taken time out of their day to watch us on the show and participate by sending your messages in, too.

"It’s been a blast but sadly all good things come to an end someday.

"Thanks for accepting me as one of your lunchmates.

"I still don’t know what I’ll do without this show."

What was Dale Bowes cause of death?

Dale died after battling terminal cancer.

The popular Lunchmate had been living with incurable synovial sarcoma of the left lung since 2021.

Sarcomas are a cancer that develop in any part of the body.

They are an uncommon disease and can strike inside or outside, including your muscles, bones, tendons, blood vessels and fatty tissues.

Dale had been undergoing various treatments including both radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the condition.

However, he previously told Steph McGovern: "I've been told that current treatments will not cure my cancer.

"One of the treatments could help me but at the moment if I deteriorate into a situation where I'm suffering I think it should be the decision of the person who is going through that."

Who has paid tribute to Dale Bowes' death?

Host Steph McGovern led tributes, as soon as the news broke.

She shared a snap of herself and Dale, and wrote: "Gutted to hear that @MrDaleBowes has died.

"Dale was one of our fabulous lunchmates who always brought so much wisdom and joy to the show, even in the middle of his brutal cancer treatment."

Talk TV's Gavin Wilson also paid tribute on Instagram.

Along with a picture of the pair, he wrote: "RIP Mr Dale Bowes.

"A much loved Lunchmate of our @stephlunch @packedlunchc4 family!"
