AN automotive expert has revealed a handful of rarely utilized features in today's cars that are useful for everyday driving.

One feature helps keep your eyes planted on the road and can be quickly deployed.

Ping Chegece, an automotive influencer on TikTok (@chegeceping) uploaded a recent video to show his viewers a variety of everyday functions that many drivers are privy to.

Using a dated Nissan sedan as an example, he points to the exterior lighting options to the lower left of the steering wheel.

"Look at our light switches," he said.

"There is an 'Auto' function here, and our headlights will automatically turn on or off."

Many cars have a light sensor on the dashboard that will automatically activate or deactivate the headlights based on how much light is sensed as long as the headlights are on the 'auto' setting.

It's helpful at night, when driving through a tunnel, driving into a parking garage, or driving in the rain.

During the day when headlights aren't needed, the daytime running lights will remain on to increase visibility.

Not all vehicles have this function so it's important to consult the owner's manual to double-check that your vehicle has it.

Next, he points to the rearview mirror.

"Look at our central rearview mirror," he said.

"There's a little wrench on the back of it. This is a manual anti-dazzle function."

Under the center of the rearview mirror is a knob that can be pressed to flip the mirror down to redirect bright lights without distorting the image.

The function is meant to make traveling at night easier, as it helps drivers not be blinded or distracted by a driver behind them using their high beams.

Another handy feature that is under the radar for most drivers involves the fuel gauge.

"Look at our fuel tank logo," he said.

"The direction of the little arrow points to is the direction where the fuel tank cap sits."
