CAROL Kirkwood was nowhere to be seen on BBC Breakfast today as Naga Munchetty returned to the show following their 'feud'.

Viewers of the flagship Beeb programme took to social media last week to call out tensions between the two presenters.

It comes after Naga, 49, took a 'nasty' swipe at her BBC Breakfast colleague during last Thursday's show, leading one viewer to think the pair "really do hate each other".

As Charlie Stayt and Naga hosted their first show of the week this morning, fan-favourite Carol, 61, was absent.

Presenter Sarah Keith-Lucas, 42, stood in for her but no explanation was given to justify the move.

Last week tension in the Salford studio reached fever pitch as Carol came onto the air waves.

The longtime breakfast weather presenter immediately followed Mike Bushell's sports bulletin as she stood at her usual green screen.

Although the weather prospects looked rather gloomy, Mike couldn't help but comment on Carol's sunny outfit as he thought it was in keeping with the golf theme.

He gushed: "If only it was as sunny as Carol and her Azalea like top, which is a tribute to The Masters (tournament), I’m sure."

Naga couldn't help but chime in with her own sarcastic 'dig'.

She jibbed: "Absolutely, because Augusta (Augusta National, home of The Masters) is famous for it’s Azaleas. Well done Carol, look at you tying in with the theme.

"I know you thought really carefully about that last night when you picked your outfit out."

The weather host replied making a heart shape gesture with her hands as she said: "I have one message for Mike", leading Naga to comment, "Do you know what Charlie, you and I have never got that".

"And what do you think the chances are of you ever getting it, Naga," hit back Carol.

As the studio erupted in banterous laughter, Naga tried to quickly move the programme on.

"Can you feel the love? Crack on Carol, crack on!," she spat back.

Meanwhile, last week Jon Kay returned to BBC Breakfast after coming off air in a hosting shake-up.

He had been missing for a week before revealing to fans he had taken a well-deserved holiday with his family to Cornwall.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
