Both stars brought viewers the latest news from across the UK and world while Matt Taylor was on weather duties.

During the episode viewers watched as Naga grilled work and pensions secretary Mel Stride.

She brought up the breaking news story that Israel has launched a revenge attack on Iranian soil.

As the interview moved on Naga probed the MP on 'sick note culture'.

Mel replied: "We have seen increasing prevalence in mental health in society. Work is there as part of the solution. It's good for people to have good work, the evidence shows that."

However, as the conversation progressed, Naga appeared to be getting frustrated that Mr Stride wasn't answering her questions.

At one point she snapped: "Sorry. No no no. That's not my question."

Watching the scenes at home, viewers took to social media to blast the BBC Breakfast presenter.

One said: "@BBCNaga once again demonstrating her lack of intelligence and left-wing bias. Disgraceful “interview” with #melstride @conservatives in which she ignored his “yes” answer to her baiting question 3x before pursuing her own irrelevant line. She’s a disgrace."

A second wrote: "@BBCBreakfast what another disgraceful style of questioning by Munchetty this morning as she continues to try and undermine a government official. Shameful."

"@BBCBreakfast for god sake Naga listen to answers being given by minister instead of attempting unsuccessfully to have some sort of gotcha scenario. He specifically answered that Drs are on occasions signing people off, but that was only part of the issue - work actually helps," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "Would someone please tell Naga Munchetty that if she asks smarta*** questions she needs to be smart enough to understand the answers."
