She explained how the item had been apart of her family since the 1950s.

Inspecting the necklace, Joanna remarked: "It's nearly 200 years old! It's a belcher link chain or we call it a muff chain.

"And a muff chain is literally when they would have the gold chain and at the end they would attach it to a muff. And you can see this beautiful decoration work, it's very light in weight."

But for viewers at home, they were left in fits of laughter over the chain's name.

Taking to social media, one fan said: "A gold muff chain. That you attach to your muff. Is that a euphemism."

A second wrote: "Ok, you got my attention #MuffChain."

"Would like to see the muff that chain would attach to," said a third.

While a fourth posted: "Stop saying muff."

The Antiques Roadshow guest was later stunned to learn the real value of the muff chain.

Joanna told her: "So at auction because these items are so popular, you can be looking at about £5,000."
