A PLACE in the Sun star Scarlette Douglas broke down in tears while sharing an emotional update on Instagram.

TV presenter Scarlette returned to Instagram with an emotional update yesterday. It marked day 17 of her fertility journey and also happened to be her birthday.
Scarlette, who now presents Channel 4’s Worst House on the Street after stepping away from A Place in the Sun in 2022, shared how she was feeling in a raw and emotional video.
She began the video by celebrating her 37th birthday, before making a heartbreaking statement about not being a mum yet.

“Egg freezing diary day 17. How do I feel? I feel emotional today for many reasons, probably. Hormones being one, but also, I didn’t think I would be 37 and not have a partner, not be engaged, not be married, not have kids,” she began.
Scarlette continued: “So I think all of that is getting on top of me a little bit today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m unbelievably grateful for everything that I have in my life... for my family, for my friends, my house, my security, my work, all of that I’m so grateful.
“I don’t for one minute want anybody to think that I’m not because I am and I give thanks every day.”
Scarlette got teary as she continued: “But I also definitely thought I would have been a mummy by now, and I’m looking at my tummy like yeah, it’s a lot. So, for anyone who is going through this out there, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Hence me doing this whole diary.”
“It will feel very lonely if you are a single woman doing this, even if you do have all your friends and family around you and mine, have been unbelievable. But it’s still quite a lonely journey to be on, but you will get through, you really will.”

Despite fighting back tears, Scarlette ends the video on a positive note. “So it’s mixed emotions today. Obviously, I’m super happy because it’s my birthday and I’m going to be heading out with my family. But at the same time, I do want my own little family, which is why I’m doing the egg freezing so that I can secure my eggs for a later date so that I can have a little family,” she concluded.

Warning her fans about the content of the video in the caption, Scarlette wrote: Yes I get emotional in this video but it’s been the first time I’ve shed a tear since I started this journey a few weeks ago (and not because I’m fully in the 35-45 age bracket lol).
“Ladies, you are not alone on this journey but it can feel lonely, so take each day as it comes and ride that emotional wave, knowing it won’t last forever.”

Her fans were quick to reach out with messages of support and praised for her sharing such a raw and emotional video.

Scarlette was rushed to hospital last week as she found herself experiencing strange symptoms, including numbness in her arm. However, she has since confirmed that it was a false alarm and she is proceeding with the egg freezing process.
