Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher will not be returning for the second season of That 90s Show following backlash over their support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

The duo previously portrayed iconic characters Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart on That 70s Show and made a special guest appearance in the first season of Netflix's spin-off show. However, Mila has firmly put to rest any rumours of another comeback.

In response to speculation, the 40-year-old was decisively assertive, saying: "No," before adding: "I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son in the show."

"I've already done an episode of it, and I'm going back to do another one," he told Entertainment Tonight. Mila and Ashton's decision to step back from That 90s Show comes following intense criticism over their support of Danny Masterson.

The pair, former co-stars of Masterson, penned character references ahead of his conviction for the rape of two women. In the letters, Ashton depicted Masterson as a "role model", while Mila praised his "exceptional character".

In response to outcry, the couple released a video expressing their regrets and detailing the reasons behind penning the letters. Ashton started: "We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson."

Mila added: "We support all victims. We have done this historically through all our work and will continue to do so in the future."

Ashton explained: "A couple of months ago Danny's family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing."

Mila implored fans to understand that the letters weren't written to challenge the authority of the system or the credibility of the judgement. She concluded by saying: "Our heart goes out to every single person who has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse, or rape."
