There's £120 off Apple's older 10.9-inch iPad days before the brand is expected to launch a much newer model

One retailer has caused a stir among our tech experts thanks to its seemingly mega price drop on a brand-new Apple iPad device. Anyone who turns to Currys to upgrade their device can get £120 off the 2022 10.9-inch model.

The deal means eager shoppers will pay £379 compared to the much pricier £498 retail price, as now may just be one of the cheapest times to buy the 64GB device. The model also comes with an A14 Bionic Processor and iPad OS.

It's one of many tech deals John Lewis has added to its site, along with rival Samsung that's making a splash on TV deals - you can currently get a 32-inch Frame TV for free if you buy the bigger 65-inch model. However you have to be quick as it all ends tomorrow.

Apple fans only have until 11:59PM Tuesday, April 30 to get the 10.9-inch iPad for £120 less, before it rises back up to its usual £498 price. But if you do miss the sale, it may not be the end of the world as another huge upgrade could be on the cards from Apple.

The newest tech rumours swirling around is that Apple are due to be launching a brand new range of iPad models next week, with talks from industry experts like LaptopMag pointing at a new M2-chip iPad Air and speeds M3 iPad Pro devices.

While nothing has been confirmed by the brand (in terms of the exact new products) Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed a huge spoiler to tech fans, taking to X to share the long-awaiting May 7 date. And a nod to the Apple Pencil...of course the main accessory used on iPads.

Taking to X Apple's CEO wrote a short "Pencil us in for May 7" along with the #Apple Event, hinting at yet another standout global launch from the tech brand. Its last event was the 'Wanderlust' event where we saw the now flagship iPhone 15 range reveal in August 2023.

The Mirror's Dave Snelling previously shared last week, that the 2024 'Let Loose' event on May 7 will launch at 7am in Cupertino, California. So UK Apple fans will want to be ready for 3pm BST.

In terms of what products we could see launch, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg UK has said that the potential new iPad Pro will 'kick Apple into AI hardware'. Earlier this month Gurman broke the news of its M4 processor chip plans, and now he's revealed it could be a stand-out feature on the potential new iPad devices.

He said: "I’m hearing there is a strong possibility that the chip in the new iPad Pro will be the M4, not the M3. Better yet, I believe Apple will position the tablet as its first truly AI-powered device — and that it will tout each new product from then on as an AI device. This, of course, is all in response to the AI craze that has swept the tech industry over the last couple years.

Argos is another retailer currently matching John Lewis' price drop on the older 2022 10.9-inch iPad model, and despite a new launch on the cards, it's one way fans of the brand can get their hands on the devices for a lot less.
