TASKMASTER have been forced to issue an apology after disaster struck their live New York City show.

The Channel 4 show put on an exclusive performance for their US fan base but it quickly ended in disaster.

Greg Davies and Alex Horne were seen on stage for the event but not all of their fans got to see it.

In a huge ticketing error, Rodney's Comedy Club, the venue in the US city issued more tickets than were available which ended up leaving some fans bitterly disappointed.

It forced the show to speak out and send a grovelling apology after some ticket holders were scurried away at the door despite shelling out to secure a seat.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - the programme said to disappointed fans: "Thank you to everyone who turned up at Rodney’s Comedy Club to see us in New York tonight.

"We were surprised and overjoyed at the amount of you who turned up. Due to a ticketing error with the venue, more tickets were sold than the venue had capacity for.

"We tried to fit in as many as possible, and we’re hugely sorry to anyone who had a ticket and couldn’t get in.

"We’re processing refunds to those who couldn’t get in as soon as we can as well as giving them priority tickets to the next event we do here.

"We’ll make it our task to come back to NY very soon!"

The epic error comes just days before a brand new series of the Channel 4 show is set to kick off.

Greg and Alex will be back to front proceedings this Thursday as a new batch of celebs take on the challenge.

It will be the programme's seventeenth series and will star Joanne McNally, John Robins, Nick Mohammed, Sophie Willan, and Steve Pemberton.

The series was filmed in front of a studio audience in September of last year.

The Channel 4 hit, which was originally on Dave from 2015 until 2019, was renewed for another six series in March last year.

Its first-ever Junior spin-off will air this year, with previous participants Mike Wozniak and Rose Matafeo taking on the roles of Alex and the Taskmaster himself, Greg Davies.

Taskmaster returns to Channel 4 on Thursday.
