One local, who declined to be named, said: “I had gone to my bed early and didn’t hear a thing.

“When I got up for work the place was swarming with coppers. The street was shut off and we had to give our name to get in and out of the flats.

“Who knows what has gone on, there are lots of rumors but I don’t know for sure.

“I’m not even sure if the dead guy lives in that block or not.”

“I’ve lived here half my life and it’s scary that this has happened on your own doorstep.

“It’s shocking to see.”

The streets were open and the block was being guarded by a single cop.
