The setting is called Adaptive Battery, and it's available as standard on Android-powered Samsung phones.

It's tucked away in your phone's battery settings, so there's every chance you've missed it.

But it works to understand how you use your phone – and improve battery life by making optimizations.

"Adaptive battery can extent your battery life by learning your phone’s usage patterns," Samsung explained.

HOW TO USE ADAPTIVE BATTERY ON SAMSUNG

First go into your phone's Settings app.

Then tap on Battery and Device Care > Battery > More Battery Settings > Adaptive Battery.

It should say something like "extend battery life based on your phone usage" – turn the toggle next to it on.

Note that some of the settings may have different names depending on your version of Android.

When Adaptive Battery is switched on, some app activities will be limited.

This may affect performance and the speed of notifications.

Samsung explains: "Optimized apps will use less battery, but some background functions will be restricted."

OPTIMIZE IT!

There are some other tricks to help improve your phone's battery life too.

Samsung recommends using the general optimization feature to see if it helps.
