A GoFundMe campaign for the family of Hainault stabbing victim Daniel Anjorin has smashed its original £40,000 target in under 24 hours.

Pupil Daniel, 14, was killed in an attack by a man carrying a sword while he was on his way to school - four other people were taken to hospital with injuries. Brazilian-Spanish national Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, 36, was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article.

Following the tragedy, Kwasi Asare organised a fundraiser in "celebration" of Daniel. Asare, who claimed to be a friend of the victim's brother Joshua, said money would help the family cover costs. "Daniel Anjorin was a very loved boy in the local community who was always full of happiness and joy and very much loved by everybody he came across," Asare said in the post.

The post continued: "I would like to raise money for his family on behalf of his family as his brother is one of my close friends to help them with the costs of everything so please donate whatever you can donate. Would be very much appreciated." As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe campaign had raised just under £40,000 from 2,200 donations, leading the target to be raised to £45,000. The Mirror has contacted Asare for comment.

Daniel's family spoke of their grief, telling Sky News he was a "wonderful child" who was "well loved" as well as "hard working." They added his death "leaves a gaping wound in the family." “No family should have to go through what we are experiencing today," the family continued. "Any family will understand it’s an absolute tragedy.”

Tributes have poured in for Daniel following his killing on Tuesday, including from Bancroft's school where he attended in Woodford Green, East London, which spoke of "profound shock and sorrow" at news of his death. The school also praised Daniel for his "commendable dedication to his academic pursuits."

Jubilee Church in Ilford confirmed the Anjorins are members of their congregation. The church said in a statement: “It is with immense sadness that we share the news of the sudden and tragic death of one of the members of Jubilee Youth. Mr and Mrs Anjorin’s son Daniel was sadly attacked on his way to school yesterday. We continue to proved every pastoral as is needed and as a church we call on all members of our church family and beyond to pray for the family at this very sad time.”
