GREGG Wallace didn't hold back as he slammed a dish for being "too sweet" - despite being known as MasterChef's dessert-loving judge.

It came as the BBC star, 59, assessed recruitment consultant Aaron's flavour-packed creation on the hit show.

Aaron looked noticeably apprehensive as he presented Gregg and co-judge John Torode, 58, with a plate of spiced beef mince with apple, topped with a fried quails egg.

The pretty dish also featured coconut rice, garlic pak choi as well as pickled radish and ginger.

Giving his take, MasterChef's Gregg started positively as he said: "I like your pak choi, it's crunchy, juicy, I am picking up garlic, ginger.

"I am getting chilli out of that bowl as well."

Yet, delivering a cutting blow, he added: "Don't like how sweet that mince is.

"It's a little too sweet for me."

Gregg emphasised the "ME" as he is known for his sweet tooth.

John then claimed the dish wasn't "wet enough," particularly as it was served with rice.

Yet Aaron explained the real reason for his below-par performance in a piece to camera.

He admitted: "Looking back now, I probably could think of some more dishes.

"But at the time, I guess the pressure - it's part of the show, right?

"And that's how you've got to perform."

Gregg gripe

Earlier this season, fans were quick to call out Gregg's annoying habit.

Viewers are begging the TV anchor to stop calling everything "yummy" as he analyses every dish.

During a previous episode, one took to X to write: "If Greg Wallace says yummy one more time tonight..."

Another then fumed: "Stop saying f***ing yummy Gregg."

Earlier in that episode, one contestant cut her finger off moments after starting the challenge.

Format change

Loyal MasterChef fans were also irked at a format change on the long-running BBC series.

They accused show bosses of "putting the programme in a blender" after they told the six culinary competitors their first challenge would be different to previous years.

Called Basic To Brilliant, the cooks had to create something special from one humble ingredient, whether this be onions or cous cous.

Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one then wrote: "This format change is like they've put the whole show in a blender and are trying to piece it back together again."
