THE Met Office has issued an urgent warning with 50mph and thunderstorms set to cause travel chaos.

Strong winds will push across eastern England this morning, buffeting Norfolk and Suffolk.

Heavy showers will drench the warning zone - with a risk of hail and thunder.

There could be road, rail, and ferry delays until the yellow wind warning ends at 11am.

Delays for high-sided motors on exposed routes are also possible, forecasters said.

Unseasonable gusts of up to 50mph may be strong enough to bring down a few branches or trees.

Other parts of the UK will see a mix of sunny spells and showers lingering into the night.

Brits will enjoy a few moments of sheltered sunshine amid the cool breeze.

Tonight it will turn drier as the wind sweeps rain clouds out into the North Sea.

The showers will be a bit lighter tomorrow, with the west enjoying a mostly dry day.

On the whole, it will be cool and soggy for this time of year - with a fresh band of cloud and rain arriving on Thursday.

The Environment Agency has issued 12 flood amber flood alerts across England.

But the agency said the overall flood risk over the coming days is very low.
