The Hollywood actress has struggled with her health in recent years, following a near-death experience more than two decades ago. She was given a one per cent chance of survival after a nine-day brain bleed in 2001 after suffering a stroke.

The 66-year-old has now quit showbusiness since her brain haemorrhage and recently appeared on Good Morning Britain to speak about life away from the spotlight. "My real first step of recovery was about seven years and that’s a long time to lose your momentum."

"In seven years, you're no longer the flavour of the time, you no longer have box office heat, the same people you were working with are no longer in power anymore," she added. "Everything changes and people don't really care about that person anymore.

"It's like going back to your old job seven years later, you don't just walk back into your job and think nothing's changed. I was sort of hurt that the world moved on without me." She opened up about her "invisible disability", telling hosts: "I'm a different person, I have an invisible disability, you know, people don't know that.

"People can help you when they see you are walking with crutches but when you are having a bit of a problem with brain function, people don't see that." It comes after Sharon was accused of causing a high-speed car crash in Los Angeles.

The Basic Instinct actress is reportedly being sued for more than £28,000 ($35,000) after the alleged incident last year. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, motorist Amanda Godepski has filed a complaint to the Los Angeles Superior Court. In the filing, submitted on Wednesday, April 24, Sharon is accused of driving in an "unsafe" manner on the U.S. Route 101 freeway off-ramp at Coldwater Canyon Avenue on June 30 last year, per documents – allegedly causing damage and personal injury.

Gosepksi alleges that Sharon was "negligently owning, operating, driving, managing and maintaining a vehicle". The filing adds, "Defendant Sharon Vonne Stone caused the collision by driving too fast for traffic conditions and making an unsafe turning movement into plaintiff's lane of travel and colliding into plaintiff's vehicle."

The report cites violations of three California vehicle regulations, including driving too fast for the traffic, making hazardous turns, and changing lanes, per the filing. Sharon is being sued for "wage loss, property damage, general damage and loss of earnings".

She's also claiming "emotional distress" and "economical damage", plus "non-economical damage" after being taken to the hospital. Sharon hasn't yet responded to the lawsuit, the Mirror has also approached her representatives for a comment.
