Going on holiday is always stressful as there's so much to plan and think about.

From booking the flights to packing to making sure everything is in order - jetting off on holidays isn't always plain sailing. And it can be made more difficult when certain systems are put in place.

One woman recently opened up about a bizarre glitch she discovered when flying with Emirates Airline. She was left so confused by it that she felt the need to tell Reddit users about the pickle she found herself in.

In the post, she wrote: "I recently booked a flight to Malaysia using Emirates. As I was booking the holiday, I put myself down as the primary passenger. (Just for clarification, I’m a woman).

"Been receiving documents which all begin with ‘Dear Mr husband's name’ and when I went onto the ‘Manage My Booking’, it has him down as the primary passenger. I looked at the connecting flights on other airlines and, sure enough, my husband is the primary passenger there too.

"Is this normal practice for Emirates? Do they automatically make the male the primary passenger?"

It got a lot of people talking quickly, and hundreds of people have responded. It seems other people have also experienced the same thing, and it's been deemed "infuriating".

One person replied: "Yes, me and my girlfriend flew to China and Emirates always changes primary to the male." Another wrote: "My mother was traveling with my then 10-yr-old brother (this was 20+ yrs ago), and they did this.

"Yes, they made her minor son the primary passenger over her."

A third chimed in with: "How do they list a woman traveling alone? Do they put her under her father's name or just refuse her altogether?"

One woman responded to this question, replying: "I am a woman and have flown Emirates. My name was on the ticket but I got a LOT of looks in the airport in Dubai for being a solo traveler."

Despite the claims, some people said they've never know this to happen to them when travelling. It seems some women haven't been demoted from the role of primary passenger.

One person wrote: "I’ve lived in the Emirates for 7 years, I’m a Canadian woman, married. I use Emirates for most of my travel and this has never happened to me.

"I actually booked a flight last night and just confirmed once reading your post and it’s my name in the primary and as 'Family head' since we share an emirates account for the miles."

Another chirped in with: "I have also used Emirates several times with my husband and I always do the booking. This has never happened to me either."

One more replied: "We flew with Emirates last year and they made my 11-year-old daughter the primary passenger. Based on this I think their systems are just messed up, and I wouldn’t read too much into it."
