BBC One has sensationally ditched The One Show from their schedules in a last minute TV shake-up.

The programme usually airs on the main channel at 7pm but it has been booted from BBC One this evening.

Instead, fans wanting to tune into the topical magazine series will be forced to switch over to BBC Two where it has been moved to.

The decision to remove the long-running programme comes as a result of the leading BBC channel broadcasting a politics special ahead of the upcoming General Election.

The Panorama Interviews will be aired instead where Nick Robinson will chat to one of the leaders hoping to win over votes as part of the July election.

Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth is expected to be in the hotseat where he will be grilled on his party's policies.

Over on BBC Two, The One Show's longest-running star Alex Jones will be on the sofa alongside Jermaine Jenas for tonight's programme.

The pair will be chatting to singer and actor Jason Donovan where he will be spilling all on his return to stage in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Professor Dame Sally Davies will also be making an appearance on the programme to chat all about the Longitude Prize.

Nikki Fox will also be on screens with her regular Watchdog update.

TV schedules look set to be rocked to the core over the next few weeks with a slew of scheduling switch-ups on the horizon.

Thanks to coverage of both the General Election and the Euros 2024, many programmes will find themselves kicked out of their usual homes.

ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale will fail to air as normal this Friday thanks to coverage of the Scotland v Germany match.

These shake-ups will persist in the following weeks with other matches set to disrupt the usual soap pattern.

The One Show itself is also likely to fall victim to being moved to BBC Two again over the next few weeks for the same reason.
