NAGA Munchetty jokingly called Charlie Stayt a spoilsport on BBC Breakfast after he made up a story for TV.

The pair were discussing new rules in several UK airports that mean drivers will have to shell out to drop a passenger off for a flight.

Ben Boulous made an appearance on the programme to explain the new charges, which are incurred in certain parking zones after ten minutes.

In an attempt to help audiences understand how they can still take a vehicle to the airport for free, Charlie asked Ben for advice on how to offer his friend Barry a lift without getting fined.

Naga chimed in, asking: "When's Barry's next trip? Just to make sure he's organised."

Her shamefaced co-host then had to admit that he had invented him.

Charlie responded: "Err, Barry's made up. He's not a real person."

Naga had clearly been hoping for a more interesting story, and hit out: "You're such a spoilsport!"

Charlie apologised and jokingly volunteered his services as a driver to anyone watching with the name Barry.

One viewer was quick to take him up on the offer.

A BBC Breakfast fan rushed to social media, writing: "Me mate and I (Barry) are away later Charlie boy. Get the engine running, need a lift."

Another added: "Re:dropoff - Of course Barry’s 'made up'. He’s going on holiday and gets to spend time with Charlie, that’s gonna make anyone cheerful."
