The Cannes Film Festival is well underway and a whole host of celebs have been hitting the French Riviera this week to attend countless film premieres. Although we’ve been seeing some amazing looks hitting the red carpet, we’re just as enamoured with the stars’ off-duty looks that they’ve been wearing whilst out and about between premieres.
Not only are they a masterclass in chic, casual dressing, but they’re often more wearable than the gowns that hit the red carpet, especially when the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have been opting for a high street brand or two. The supermodel opted for a Hoop Dress With Gathered Opening, , from Mango as she headed out to lunch earlier in the week, and it’s went straight to the top of our summer wardrobe wishlist.
The cream maxi dress may be at the higher end of the high street fave’s price points, but it’s still considerably more affordable than the luxury designer gowns that we’ve been seeing at the film festival, not to mention it's the perfect versatile pick for summer. Although Rosie opted to style hers with a pair of barely-there nude strappy heels and some oversized gold jewellery, we could just as easily see the dress worn with a pair of gladiator sandals and a raffia bag for a more low-key brunch look.
The dress itself has an elegant and sophisticated look, with structured shoulders and a long, draping skirt that makes it look timeless and classic. However, it keeps things modern and summer-ready with a tall thigh slit and a deep V neckline that gathers into a ring-shaped opening.
It’s made from a lightweight, flowy fabric that drapes beautifully and hangs straight down, whilst the gathering around the waist helps define your silhouette and accentuate your figure. The dress is part of Mango’s Capsule collection, which includes a limited-edition run of styles made from luxe fabrics.
Shopper buys big fluffy rug from Shein - but was left howling when it arrivedIf you’re looking for a slightly more wearable daytime-style dress that’s a little more budget-friendly, we also love this Long Linen Blend Dress With Cut-Out Detail, , from Bershka. It swaps the long sleeves and maxi hemline of Rosie’s dress for a breezier midi length and strappy sleeves, but keeps the keyhole-style cut out and gathered details in the middle.
The gathered ruching can be tied and adjusted to suit your bust, and the dress also fastens with an adjustable tie halterneck to make sure you get the fit you need. It’s made from 55% linen, which keeps it lightweight and breezy for summer, and makes the perfect pick for holiday packing. Cannes is the perfect place to pick up some holiday outfit inspo, so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more summer buys!
