NEW Love Island host Maya Jama has opened up on the moment she found out she was going to host the hit dating show.

Towards the end of last year, the 28-year-old beauty was announced as the new face of the hit dating show, weeks after The Sun exclusively revealed Maya had been chosen to front it.

It came after Irish host Laura, 37, quit in August having replaced the late Caroline Flack in 2020.

And in a chat on today’s This Morning with Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, the star explained that accepting the role was a “no brainer.”

Maya said: “I found out quite a few months ago. A little while ago I found out it was a no brainer obviously because I’m a massive fan of the show.

“I was like ‘ok when does it start?’ and they explained they were doing the winter one again so I thought ‘right, I’m coming back soon.’

“And it was all a bit of a blur to be honest but I found out and said yes absolutely, so now I’m off to South Africa.”

Alison was quick to praise Maya on her successful presenting career and said she was a “great fit” for the Love Island gig.

The ITV2 dating show is returning for a winter edition and viewers can expect a series full of bombshells, bust-ups, and bromances.

And it all kicks off on Monday 16 January at 9 pm on ITV2.

The cohort of sexy singletons will be flown out to South Africa, ready to begin filming in just a matter of days.

The grand finale will take place eight weeks later on March 13.

An insider said: “The villa is absolutely amazing, Maya is raring to go and this series’ contestants are looking to be the sexiest ever.

“It is a really exciting time for everyone who works on the show and they cannot wait to get started.”
