A BELOVED BBC Breakfast star was again missing from viewers' screens - while fans showered praise on their replacement.

Sally Nugent was absent from the iconic red sofa on this morning's (June 25) show.

For the second day in a row, fellow presenter Sarah Campbell took the reins alongside show regular Jon Kay.

Usually, fans would expect to see Sally and Jon, 54, on Monday through Wednesday.

Meanwhile, their counterparts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty take over on Thursday to Saturday.

Despite the changes, fans couldn't help but shower praise on Sarah during her latest appearance.

One wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Good morning Sarah love the outfit this morning."

Another added: "Good morning Sarah, fantastic to see you back on the Salford sofa, the perfect tonic up here on Tyneside, enjoy another glorious Summer's day."

During today's episode, Jon and Sarah spoke to stars including The One Show presenter Jermaine Jenas and broadcaster Ross Kemp.

In particular, Ross, 59, was on hand in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, as the show covered "Thank You Day", an annual event dedicated to unsung heroes in their communities.

The legendary former EastEnders star said: "We've got some people here from the Royal Voluntary Service in Rickmansworth.

"They turn up, rain or shine, to help people in the community. They serve them lunches, this morning it's breakfast.

"You can't underestimate what a difference it makes to a lot of the people behind me.

"Some of them may have lost loved ones, they're on their own.

"They can come here, they can be looked after, they get a real sense of community and it brings people together."

As for usual host Sally, she joined the Breakfast team full-time in 2021, having been working on the programme on a freelance basis since 2011.

This is not the first time she has been involved in a BBC Breakfast presenting shake-up.

Earlier this month, viewers were worried when Sally was nowhere to be seen on an episode.

Sarah Campbell filled in on that occasion as well, although she was left wincing at footage of Kylian Mbappé breaking his nose during France's Euros opener.

She said: "I'm not sure I can watch that slow motion picture of Kylian Mbappé breaking his nose any more."

Sarah added: "Maybe give us a health warning next time."

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
