Arriving at the airport before a long-awaited holiday and grabbing a pint and something to eat is all part of the fun - it's practically a ritual for us Brits. However, one man who thought he was having the time of his life got his pre-vacation snack utterly rinsed after he posted a snap of it on social media.
After being posted on X, and re-shared on a Facebook meme page when someone clocked the dismal meal, it was compared to everything from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's 'poor meal' to a Bushtucker Trial dish from ITV's I'm A Celebrity… The image of the food quickly attracted a huge reaction with over 7,000 people 'liking' the snap on Facebook.
In the original image, X user @JudeChels captioned his snap of a plate of white rice with baked beans and half a pint of lager, "Pre flight meals don't get much better." It wasn't long before people rushed to share their thoughts. One person joked: "Camp Rock have deffo failed today's trail so have only got Rice & Beans for dinner tonight!"
Another user penned: "Wouldn't fancy sitting next to him on a long haul flight." While someone else quipped: "The blue passport is as necessary as subtitles on a silent movie." A third viewer added: "Is this Rishi Sunak's 'I had to make sacrifices' too meal?"
But not everyone thought it looked bad with many people suggesting their own additions. One user chimed in: "He wants half a block of cathedral city and this is a winner!" While someone else wrote: "Not gonna lie... I'd genuinely demolish that and enjoy every bite."
Morrisons is slashing over 130 prices on its saver-products from todayWhen it comes to taking the mickey out of people's culinary choices, the English are happy to treat everyone the same. The masses quickly educated an American woman after it was revealed what she called a jacket potato.
Food content creator Jen Curely demonstrated how she prepared and cooked the staple British dish for her followers on TikTok. She began rinsing and scrubbing a large potato under a sink then patting it dry with a towel before poking holes into it with a fork.
Next, Jen pours olive oil over the vegetable and uses her hands to rub the liquid all over the top and edges. She proceeds to add a pinch of sea salt to the outer layer of the potato. The TikToker then pops it into her air fryer to cook for 30 minutes. So far, so good, right?
However, her followers were left in hysterics after said she made a 'potato jacket' instead of using the correct English word for the dish. A jacket potato, also known as a baked potato, is a popular choice of meal for most Brits. It is crispy outside while being extra fluffy inside and is traditionally served with cheese and beans.
She hilariously captioned the clip: "You've seen a jacket potato but have you seen a potato jacket." The video, posted under the account @snackqween racked in 49,700 thousand likes and received over 500 comments from internet users.
