WHAT happens at Glasto, stays at Glasto……unless you happen to be one of the A-listers who flock to Worthy Farm each year.

Whether it be on-stage outbursts or over-indulging in the hospitality area offerings, it seems that celebrities are just like the rest of us when festival fever takes over.

The world’s most famous music festival has been the scene of its fair share of controversial celeb moments over the years.

So as 210,000 revellers prepare to flock to the world’s greatest festival, we look back at some of the biggest star-studded scandals to grace the mud-soaked fields.

Robbie Williams goes rogue

Back in the 90s there was no love lost between Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher and Take That heart-throb Robbie Williams, with Noel slating Robbie as “that fat-dancer from Take That”.

But that didn’t stop Robbie from cosying up to the band at Glastonbury 1995, in the midst of Robbie’s hedonistic days of drink and drugs.

Robbie and Noel’s brother Liam apparently partied hard with Robbie pictured swaggering around the festival with a blacked-out tooth and smoking copious fags.

But it was on his return from Glasto that Robbie had a showdown with his fellow band members who were concerned about his attitude, and he agreed to quit Take That.

Potty mouth Adele

Londoner Adele is known to be partial to a swear word or two, so she was warned by BBC bosses to be on her best behaviour ahead of her 2016 Pyramid stage appearance.

But the over-excitement clearly got to her as she swore a total of 33 times during her headline set.

And she even burped in the face of a young fan who she welcome up onto stage with her for a selfie, then blamed a pre-show ‘dirty burger’ for her belching.

The multi-millionaire songstress later admitted she’d been given a warning, saying: "The BBC had to give me a warning about my potty mouth. Bet Muse didn't get that!”

Fears for Lily

These days Smile singer Lily Allen is the picture of health, saying quitting booze and drugs was the best decision she ever made.

Back in the day she was as famous for partying hard as she was for her stellar music career, and had been open about her drug use - revealing she was at Glastonbury the very first time she tried them.

But at Glastonbury 2015 she reportedly collapsed and had to be treated by paramedics after enjoying a weekend of festivities with her then husband Sam Cooper and friends.

She had been hanging out with artists Big Narstie and DJ Target ahead of their dance stage performances before she took ill.

Her spokesperson later said she was absolutely fine and had had a great Glastonbury.

Rooney red-carded

Wayne and Coleen are big music fans and have been Glasto regulars for years, coptering in to the festival with an entourage of pals.

But while they may have VIP wristbands, it appears they didn’t have Access All Areas when they tried to get backstage back in 2013.

The couple - sporting matching Hunter wellies of course - were snapped having discussions with security at the backstage entrance to Dizzee Rascal’s set.

But it seems they weren’t on the list, so they weren’t getting in, and were turned away to go and watch the rapper from the crowd like everyone else.

Jay Z slays Noel Gallagher

The jury was out when hip hop legend Jay-Z was announced as a headliner back in 2008.

Never one to sit on the fence, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher nailed his colours to the mast by declaring: “I’m not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”

Well revenge is a dish best served cold. Jay Z kept his powder dry until he walked onto the Pyramid stage with a guitar slung over his shoulder and began to sing Oasis’ Wonderwall.

Similar scenes occured in 2019 after Noel took aim at pop star Lewis Capaldi, asking on Radio X: "Who's this Capaldi fella? Who the f***'s that idiot?"

When Lewis appeared on the Other Stage, much to the crowd's delight, he came on wearing a bucket hat, a parka and a T-shirt, which had Noel Gallagher's face on it.

Take that Noel!

Hello singer Lionel Richie partied All Night Long after his 2015 Glastonbury set - getting the celebrations going by downing a 4pm vodka and cranberry juice during his performance.

Lionel couldn’t wait to celebrate pulling in the festival’s biggest crowd of the weekend for his Pyramid stage performance - and he carried on the party in his London hotel until the early hours of the morning.

He said: “We were celebrating until the wee hours of the morning. It was 4.30/5am, I went to bed.

“We were raging. The days of dancing on the ceiling area over. I was hanging off the ceiling after that performance.”
