While this summer might not be a scorcher, it could be worth stocking up on a fan now and storing it away for the future.

Currently, the cheapest desk fan, measuring four inches, can be bought at either The Range or Home Bargains for just £2.99.

Meanwhile, Amazon and Asda offer them for £5.

If you’re looking for something a bit bigger, fans measuring between six and seven inches can be bought from The Range for £10.

A popular size, measuring 11-12 inches, can be snapped up for £15 from Screwfix.

If you have your eye on a larger, standing fan, around 16 inches, the place to go is B&Q which is selling one for £18.

Sports Direct is the place to go if you want a tower fan, which are becoming increasingly popular. A 32-inch one will set you back £20.

And, it really wouldn’t be summer if the kids (and big kids) weren’t able to splash about in a paddling pool.

For the very little ones, a 4ft pool might be fine. You can pick one of these up from B&Q for a fiver.

You might need something a bit bigger if you have older kids.

A medium sized pool, around 7ft in length, currently costs £10 at Argos.

If the whole family wants to join in the fun then you might want to opt for a 10ft one, which The Range is selling for £25.99.

It wouldn’t be summer either without a barbeque.

A portable reusable bbq, measuring about 13 inches can be bought from The Range for as little as £11.75.

At The Range a slightly larger barbecue, measuring around 16 to 17-inches, goes for £21.25.

You’ll obviously need some charcoal to go on it and B&Q is the place to go - a 5kg bag costs £7.

If you’re looking to cut some corners on your time spent with the bbq, then instant lighting charcoal bags might be an option.

Here, Sainsbury’s offers a 2kg bag for £6. And The Range has a 4kg one for £6.50.

BBQ MEAT

As well as saving on the bbq itself, the MSE team revealed the best deals on grill essentials.

The cheapest pack of four beef burgers are on offer at Morrisons - where they scan for an incredible £1.75.

This was price matched at Asda, while Sainsbury's deliver an equally impressive deal - eight patties for £1.90.

Aldi comes in close with £1.99 for a pack of six.

Meanwhile, popular industry giant Tesco sells the bbq food for £2.

Waitrose and Lidl charge £2.30 and £2.49 respectively for their bbq burgers.

The Martin Lewis money saving gurus also compiled a list of comparisons between sausages.

Tesco ranked the cheapest with a pack of eight costing £1.50.

This price tag was matched by both Asda and Sainsburys.

Co-op was a close second with a reasonable £1.70.

Morrisons and Waitrose ranked joint third at £1.75.

Budget foot retailer Aldi charged £1.79, which was followed by M&S' Ocado at £1.90.
