Glastonbury 2024 has began and festival goers can expect to see some of the world's biggest stars performing.

Coldplay are one of the headliners and it will be the band's fifth time on the Pyramid Stage which makes them the act that has performed the most at the festival. It will be their first performance at Glastonbury since 2016 and it will see them sing some of their biggest hits.

They are one of three headliners over the weekend - with Dua Lipa already performing on Friday night. The star described her Glastonbury experience as "the maddest night of my life" when she took to the stage on Friday and treated the audience to a selection of her popular tracks, including These Walls, Break My Heart, Hallucinate, Electricity, Physical and Don’t Start Now.

"This has been a massive dream come true," Dua Lipa said before adding, "Glastonbury, I love you." SZA will perform on Sunday night and Shania Twain will be in the legends slot

Coldplay will be taking to the stage on Saturday June 29 for a two hour set. They will play between 9.45pm and 11.45pm.

The BBC will show the five main stages across iPlayer, as well as on BBC One and Two at various points of the weekend. On iPlayer fans can watch live streams from the Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Park and Woodsies stages. Coldplay's performance will be shown on BBC Two from 10pm on Saturday night.

When Coldplay are on the Pyramid Stage they will clash with Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Gossip and Peggy Gou.

Festival-goers on Saturday can look forward to some sunny weather as they explore Worthy Farm and its many attractions. A spokesperson for the Met Office told the PA news agency that Saturday will be "a dry day with sunny spells throughout the morning, some cloud building as we head into the afternoon".

There will be highs of 20-21C in the afternoon and the "possibility of overnight rain". On Sunday there will be highs of 18-19C in the afternoon.

It has been reported that some performers end up making a loss when appearing at Glastonbury due to fees being relatively low. Dua Lipa received around £200,000 for her headline slot but she is said to have put a large percentage of that fee back into her performance and “elaborate” set to make the show as spectacular as possible

Dua is said to have thrown “everything” at the set and production. Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis, youngest daughter of the festival's founder Michael Eavis, confirmed that artists get paid 10 percent less than what they are typically paid by other festivals. That is because Glastonbury prefers to donate £2million to charities every year, which dispels the myth that some headliners are paid £1million - the number is likely much lower.
