Some fans firmly believe that discussing money and payments for work is inappropriate, while others found it to be a fascinating insight into the industry.

Fortunately for the curious, Stranger Things actor Tristan Spohn has recently revealed how much he earned from featuring on the beloved Netflix programme.

The 24-year-old, who played telekinetic test subject Two in five episodes of the show, took to his YouTube channel and broke down to viewers the amount he received after his stint.

In the show, Two bullied Eleven, played by Millie and was the strongest of the test subjects besides her.

In addition to appearing in five episodes of Stranger Things season four, Tristan also starred in an episode of the crime drama FBI, which he included in the calculations during his four-minute YouTube clip.

The actor disclosed that his one 'guest star' role on FBI paid him 'a little more than double' what he was paid for each individual episode of Stranger Things, but this was 'purely because of residuals'.

Tristan revealed that for six TV episodes, which he equated to three months of work, he was paid $85,000 (£66,600).

However, he explained that the actual take-home pay was way less than his initial pay.

Revealing the numbers, he said he was paid around $15,000 per episode of Stranger Things, while for FBI, he was paid $10,000 but made around another $12,000 from residuals in 2021 and 2022.

Of that $85,000, he paid $12,000 in taxes and around $8,000 to his agency.

Once other expenses were deducted, he was left with around $60,000 (£47,000).

After taxes and expenses, he calculated that his five episodes of Stranger Things had earned him about $10,000 in take-home pay each.

One tier down was a 'recurring' performer, and below them was a 'recurring guest star', which is what his five episodes on Stranger Things consisted of.

The figures he provided were not bad for three months' work, but as the actor explained, while it might seem like a lot of money, 'one really good year' didn't mean he could quit his day job just yet.

Then there was a $3,000 fee for joining a union, though Tristan admitted he wasn't actually in the Screen Actor's Guild.

The TV star also explained that there were essentially different levels of pay on TV, and the 'series regular' was the top of the tree.

He also went on to share that after his time on Stranger Things, he was offered a contract as a series regular on another show, where he would have been paid $35,000 (£27,000) per episode, but "things ended up happening, then the strike ended up happening."

In the comments section of the video, fans reacted to the figures and Tristan's character, with one user writing: “I’m gonna be so honest. I HATED you in Stranger Things because you were so mean, but you seem like a genuinely nice person irl.”

Another added: “Wow. American actors get paid so much more than Australians. As a guest role, we make $600. Good for you, that's awesome.”

“Actors salaries are so interesting.... awesome job shedding light on the topic. Loved the videos, as always!” a third chimed.

While another praised: “You did such a good job on Stranger Things.”

Fans of Stranger Things probably won't see him in the final season of Stranger Things since he was killed when Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) tore through the lab, with Eleven watching on as Two was held against a wall and had his neck broken.

At the beginning of the year, Netflix dropped a first look at its fifth and final season, which gave away a massive spoiler about the fate of a beloved character.

Netflix released BTS photos confirming that production has officially begun on Stranger Things 5.

The photos include Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield, implying that she’ll be part of the upcoming final season, despite her grave injuries.

Seasons one to four of Stranger Things are available to stream on Netflix.
