INTERNET megastore Temu has taken the world of online shopping by storm with its bargain buys.

With Channel 4 airing the documentary Dispatches: The Truth About Temu, people in the UK are now more aware than ever of the web superstore. Here's everything you need to know about selling on it.

What is Temu?

Temu is a popular Chinese-owned digital marketplace that launched in the US in 2022.

It's regularly the top ranking free shopping app in both Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store.

Customers can buy just about any product they can imagine from the megastore, including accessories, clothing, small home appliances, outdoor furniture, power tools, baby clothes and much more.

What's caught the public's attention the most though is that the majority of their items are really cheap.

Bargains up for grabs include sunglasses from £1.50, jewellery from 70p and clothing for under £4.

The site claims its low prices mean you can "shop like a billionaire".

Temu even bought a number of advert spots during the Super Bowl, which were seen by over 120 million US viewers.

Temu's parent company is PDD Holdings, a multinational commerce group headquartered in Dublin, Ireland - but it has been notoriously difficult to pinpoint the online giant's exact origins.

Is Temu legit?

One concern shoppers have had is that many of the prices seem too good to be true, and they have worries over some of the terms and conditions.

Investigations have been carried out into the site, with some reviews more glowing than others.

But even though the quality may be a hit or miss, Temu does offer customers credit for packages purchased with standard shipping that arrive later than originally stated.

In some cases, customers have left glowing reviews on Temu items and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality.

If you receive your items and they don't look like their online listing, or they arrive damaged, or they don't arrive at all, your order is eligible for Temu's Purchase Protection Program.

How do you sell on Temu?

Selling on Temu is extremely simple - which may explain its rising popularity.

Here's how to start selling your items on the digital marketplace:

  1. Sign Up: Register as a vendor on Temu’s platform and provide the necessary information about your business.
  2. List Your Products: Upload your products to the platform, along with high-quality images, descriptions, and pricing information.

Where does Temu ship from?

Temu say their prices are so low because they ship directly from manufacturers in China and other countries to the buyer's front door, cutting out the middle man.

Like Shein, AliExpress, and Wish, Temu advertises products for cheap prices because of lower manufacturing and labour costs in China.

Temu's access to the Pinduoduo factory network and wider supply chain helps it offer these unbeatable prices.

However, a 2022 investigation found that Temu used cotton from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region where China has detained Uyghurs in camps.

There are also concerns about the site posing a security risk to users.
