Coleen Nolan has emotionally shared how she thinks her miscarriage with Shane Richie was the "right thing".

The Loose Women star, 59, was married to the EastEnders actor, 60, from 1990 until their split in 1997. They welcomed two sons together - Shane Jr. and Jake. Coleen went on to have her daughter Ciara with musician Ray Fensome. Sadly, the TV star had a miscarriage after her two sons and it happened early in the pregnancy.

Coleen has since admitted she "was glad nature took control" because she know it "wouldn't have been great" for her and Shane at the time. The singer made the heartbreaking confession as she opened up on her experience with the miscarriage. She shared: “It was actually – a shocking thing to say – but actually it was the right thing, because nature decided."

"Because it wasn’t a great time for me to be pregnant again, really. Me and Shane weren’t really in a great place at that point and I thought, ‘oh Christ, I’ve got another one coming’," Coleen told The Irish Times. She admitted the miscarriage was "still sad" and shared the couple weren't at a place where they were going to split up, but knew they were having "a hard time".

Coleen previously opened up about her miscarriage on Loose Women as she shared the doctor's harsh words. Back in 2021, Coleen explained that the pregnancy was not planned as it was months after she and Shane welcomed son Shane. She said it was a tough experience that was made worse when a medical professional called in for a house visit.

The presenter recalled how the doctor had a harsh approach to the sad news and did little to comfort her. She told her ITV colleagues: "The doctor came over to my house touched my stomach and said ‘yes you’ve lost the baby, get an appointment tomorrow and they can give you a scrape.’"

She shared how she was "in shock" at how she had been delivered the news. "I was left in shock afterwards," she said. "He kind of was like ‘that's natures way’." Coleen and ex husband Shane first met each other in 1986 and planned a huge wedding ceremony. However, they decided to elope to Florida at the last minute after their plans got out of control.

Years later they decided to have a blessing at a church when Coleen's dad fell ill. They divorced in 1999 after their 1997 split. Coleen married Ray, but they divorced in 2018. In the last few years, she is dating a supermarket worker named Michael Jones - who she met on Tinder in 2021. Despite getting off to a rocky start with multiple breakups, the pair are now happier than ever and recently moved in together.
