GREAT British Menu fans were left outraged after a "rude" chef launched a tirade at his fellow competitor.

Tonight's episode of the BBC Two show saw a new batch of Scottish cooks race against the clock to prepare the highest scoring starter and fish dish.

Winners were given the opportunity to pass onto the next round, where they face a taste test over their mains and puddings.

Dundee-born Adam Handling has returned to the programme for a third time and is hoping to take home the crown after missing out in the banquet finale last year.

The other chefs taking part include Aberdeen’s Kevin Dalgleish of Amuse, Nigerian-born Tunde “Abi” Abifarin, head chef at Farin Road in Edinburgh and Mark McCabe, from Tannadice, who is the head chef and owner of The Ethicurean in Somerset.

Viewers watched as Tunde found himself falling behind the rest as his dishes received low scores from judge Tom Aikens.

The Michelin star critic gave him just five points for his banana starter, and was even more critical of his lobster dish 'Yabbies and Witchetty Grubs'.

However, fans of the reality show were left outraged by Adam Handling's tirade aimed at Tunde.

After trying the barbecued lobster with jollof rice and a side of sea vegetables, Adam slammed the fellow contestant for his food.

Adam said: "If you’re going to make lobster, the king of the ocean, make sure you know how to cook it.

"Leaving the intestinal tract inside lobster – if anyone had that in my restaurant I would literally be mortified.

"I hope when he tastes it he realises that this is a disaster."

Viewers took to Twitter to complain about his attitude.

One said: "Adam’s arrogance is awful to watch. If he thinks he’s so good, why isn’t he on the other side of the counter and judging?"

Another wrote: "Adam is just unbearably rude.

"Somehow even worse than last year.

"No excuse for how condescending he is to the other contestants.

"Doesn’t matter if he wins, he’ll never be invited back as a veteran."

A third joked: "For a dessert Adam is going to cover himself in chocolate and eat himself. What a tool."
