GOOD MORNING Britain almost ended in chaos after Richard Madeley got miffed at Susanna Reid comparing him to a Ken doll.

Richard and Susanna were back on ITV hosting the morning news show when the conversation turned to toy company Mattel honouring British scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock with a Barbie doll.

The pair then commented about wanting a version of their own likeness, prompting Susanna to tell her GMB co-star: "To be fair Richard, you do look like the spitting image of Ken."

Richard then mockingly responded: "Oh get lost. Okay, I'm out of here."

"There's only so much I can [take]," he said. "Being likened to a plastic [doll], come on!"

Ranvir Singh later joined in on the joke, saying the host should "take it as a compliment" as she shared a split-screen comparison of Richard and the doll to viewers.

But Susanna, who famously had to witness former co-host Piers Morgan walk out on her back in 2021, didn't want to risk history repeating itself.

"Don't worry, we don't want to risk another walkout... There was a threat of a walkout at the beginning of the programme," she said.

Richard has only just returned to the programme after a sudden two weeks off following a freak accident.

The broadcaster told viewers how he needed stitches in hospital after a car door slammed into his face.

He explained: "I was crouching down on a slope between my open car door... and I turned round as the car door decided to close itself. Gravity pulled it shut.

"It's a big heavy door and it hit me on the chin, and I really bit my tongue to the extent I needed an op."

He was temporarily replaced by Ed Balls.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
