A teacher has been arrested on suspicion of abuse after allegedly pulling a chair out from under a 19-year-old autistic student.

According to the student's parents, she was left covered in bruises after the incident at Colbert County High School in Alabama, US, on March 7.

Denise Wood, 53, was arrested and later charged for the intentional abuse or neglect of a protected person.

According to court documents, the student was sitting in the school lunchroom when she heard someone mention ice cream. This led to the autistic 19-year-old to start shouting for ice cream but was told it would not be served.

When she was told no ice cream was coming, she began hitting her arms on the table. Wood approached the student to calm her down and pulled the chair out from under her, causing her to fall.

Wood then waited for the student to get up before escorting them out while allegedly pushing them.

Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine, who reviewed the CCTV, said: “The teacher just pulled the chair from underneath the child.

“At that time, the child was escorted to the door. It was more like a pushing or a shoving toward the door. And once they got her to the door, she opened the door and pushed the child out the door.”

She was booked into jail before being released on a $10,000 bond.

Being in a position of responsibility, teachers are under a lot of scrutiny while doing their jobs.

One teacher has been arrested for creating a horrifying ‘kill list’ of their students and colleagues.

Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres was reportedly overheard by a student at St Stanislaus School, in East Chicago, US, talking about killing herself, some of her students and other members of staff.

The fifth-grade teacher even reportedly told the student, Portia Jones, that they shouldn’t worry because they were bottom of her list.

The 'kill list' also reportedly contained disturbing and violent descriptions.

After the student told their counsellor about the sickening revelation, the 25-year-old was immediately escorted by school staff to the principal’s office on October 12.

Once she arrived at the office she is said to have confessed to making the comments to the student, and to creating a ‘kill list’, but did not provide it.

Officers said that after the horrifying revelation, the teacher was advised to leave school and not return, pending an investigation.
