RANGERS and Celtic fans used to spend hours arguing over whether Alfredo Morelos or Odsonne Edouard was the better player.

But the former Old Firm rivals could now be PAIRING up in a new-look strike force for Crystal Palace next season.

That's because TeamTalk are claiming that Roy Hodgson's Palace are ready to make a move for frontman Morelos, whose Ibrox days are beginning to look numbered as the months count down on his contract.

Roy Hodgson was the Palace boss back in 2019 when they were linked with a £20m move for the star, and the chance to snap him up for nothing this summer might be too good an opportunity for the London outfit to miss.

They also, of course, have former Celtic striker Edouard on their books, and he's been a regular starter for Palace over the last few weeks.

Palace currently sit 12th in the English top flight, although they're not yet as far away from the relegation spots as they might have hoped.

Jordan Ayew's future beyond this summer isn't clear, while Jean Philippe-Mateta has struggled to score goals.

Gers boss Michael Beale denied reports last month that Morelos had already pledged his future to Seville, saying:

"We spoke after the game on Sunday and there's no truth in that.

"I was pretty cool about it beforehand anyway because we have such a strong relationship.

"We're both committed to each other until the end of the season and we'll sit down and have a chat then.

"If Alfredo's here and he's offered a new contract, great.

"If he moves on and he's our record goalscorer in Europe, we've had a lot of big days together. He'll get a hug and on he goes."

The claim came as former Rangers and Killie star Kris Boyd said the Ibrox side would be top of the league right now if Kyogo was playing for the Gers instead of the Hoops.

Celtic's Japanese frontman Kyogo has bagged 26 goals this season, and caused Premiership defences no end of misery with his clever movement.

By contrast, while Antonio Colak has a good goals per game ratio, and Alfredo Morelos has shown flashes of his old self, neither Rangers striker has succeeded consistently on the big occasion.

And while Kris Boyd has been an admirer of Alfredo Morelos at points in his Ibrox career, he reckons that switching Kyogo over from one side of the city to another would be enough to bridge the nine-point gap at the top of the table.

Boyd told Sky Sports: "I think it would be very difficult to put an argument up against it because of the impact he's had, the goals he's scored.

"But not only that, teams retreat that 10 or 15 yards because of his pace and movement, and that then allows for the players behind him."
