An organisation thought to be Britain’s biggest fascist group is posting far-right propaganda on YouTube.
Patriotic Alternative – described as a “dangerous neo-Nazi organisation” by a former Foreign Office official – has shared dozens of videos that include white supremacist conspiracy theories and racist slurs.
YouTube says it does not allow hate speech under its terms of service and removes any content that incites violence or hatred.
But a joint investigation by this newspaper and the Counter Extremism Project found videos contravening this policy have been online for up to two years.
Patriotic Alternative has at least 3,200 subscribers over five YouTube channels.
'I ventured into Alcatraz after dark and was terrified by what I saw and heard'When we contacted the group, deputy leader Laura Towler said: “We can only assume no other news is happening today.”
Sir Ivor Roberts, former head of counter-terrorism at the Foreign Office, said the fact the videos were still online was “inexcusable”.
A YouTube spokesman said: “We do not allow hateful content on YouTube.”
