This week, The Sun revealed how Daisy is in talks to join the Bond franchise — as spy chief ‘M’.

Yet the actress has opened up on the show that made her famous - and the painful emotion behind it.

Daisy lost her This Country co star Michael Sleggs in 2019 after the actor died of heart failure.

The actor, who played Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette, had lived with a serious heart condition for many years.

In May 2019, Michael revealed he was dying and would spend his final days at home with his family after medics had run out of options to treat his heart condition.

Speaking candidly about her grief and the future for the show, Daisy told Radio Times last year: "We definitely will [do another series], but I’m not ready yet.

"I found the last series so hard when I lost Michael.

"I’m still trying to process that."

Meanwhile her big screen career seems to be flying.

Bond bosses hope Daisy will bring a comedic and quirky edge to the role of M, previously held by heavyweights Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes.

Film insiders say the unlikely casting talks came after the success of This Country star Daisy’s close pal Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 37, joining the franchise as a script consultant.

Producers are said to feel the time is right for a sweeping overhaul of the long-running blockbusters.

It would coincide with a new leading man replacing Daniel Craig who stepped down as the British Secret Service agent at the end of the last film, No Time To Die.
