Titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, HBO have officially confirmed that the programme is in early development during their investors event with Warner Bros.

At present, the show is expected to follow Dunk and Egg and their lives 90 years before the events of the original - A Song of Ice and Fire.

In order to tease fans excitement, HBO offered up a short synopsis of the series to let fans know what is in store.

It read: "A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naive, but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."

The show is expected to launch on HBO's newly streamlined streaming service, MAX.

Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, who both executive produced the original Game of Thrones along with the House of the Dragon spin-offs will both be returning to oversee this brand new edition.

The announcement has sent fans into overdrive as they took to Twitter to share their thrill at getting another peek into the Thrones universe.

Variety first reported murmurings of the show two years ago.

Commeting online, one fan said: “It's been announced for a while. Glad to see it's actually going forward though, it's the one I'm most excited for.”

Another added:  “1 season for each of the three novellas and this will be elite. Awesome stories.”

A third shared: “This is it! The best GOT spin-off, calling it now!”
