Foldable smartphones are here to stay with the OPPO Find N2, HONOR Vs and of course, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 but Google will be launching their very own foldable Pixel phone will be unveiled at Google I/O, on May 10.

Samsung popularised foldable phones back in 2019 with the Samsung Galaxy Fold, which is now on its fourth iteration with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, which have both proved popular form factors.

However, a Google foldable phone could challenge the front-runner Samsung entering the Google Pixel lineup. US financial news outlet CNBC got hold of internal marketing materials showing Google will launch at Google I/O.

Google's yearly conference is their equivalent of Apple WWDC where the tech giant often unveils its new devices like the Pixel Watch last year and the Pixel series of mobile devices.

With this year's event on May 10th, fans are expecting to see some new devices including a Google Pixel Tablet, new Pixels phones as well as software updates to Google AI Chatbot Bard and Android 14.

Leaker OnLeaks has stated it will be a 5.8-inch phone that folds out into a 7.6-inch screen and will likely be powered by the same Google Tensor G2 chipset that's currently used in the Pixel 7 Pro released last year.

While its design is yet to be confirmed it is thought that the Pixel Fold will sport the same large camera visor on the back as previous phones housing three cameras.

US pricing is currently estimated to be around $1700 or around £1400, which, if correct would make it significantly cheaper than Samsungs Z Fold at £1,649.

Battery life on the Pixel Fold is said to beat the Samsung device as reports state that the Fold will last for 24 hours, or up to 72 hours in a low power mode due to its larger battery and efficient chip.

The Pixel Fold will also reportedly be around 20g heavier weighing 283g, compared to the Galaxy Fold due to claims Google has been reinforcing the hinge mechanism, a know fault point on some fold phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and 4.

To add further value to temp users over to the Pixel, Google will reportedly offer a free Google Pixel Watch with a purchase.
