If you haven’t, here’s all you need to know.

Milan

One of the most famous cities in Italy, Milan, is incredible.

Known as a fashion capital of the world, the city is brimming with things to do and hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Brera District

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Milan, SHOP!

There are lots of options for shopping areas in Milan, including Brera.

This district has cobbled streets and beautiful 18th century buildings. It also boasts PLENTY of fashion boutiques for you to explore.

That’s not all! As well as being known for fashion, seeing as Milan is in Italy, you have to try the world-famous food as well.

Brera is also home to lots of stylish restaurants and cafes. So, you can shop till you drop, revitalise with food and drink, and then keep shopping!

In order to eat like a Milanese, why not give some of their most famous dishes a go:

  • Minestrone Milanese – a thick, hearty, vegetable soup.
  • Panettone – traditionally eaten at Christmas, Milan is the birthplace of this sweet bread.
  • Gorgonzola – cheese lovers rejoice, as the small town of Gorgonzola (where this strong cheese originated) is located in greater Milan.
  • Risotto alla Milanese – did you know that Italy is the largest rice producer in Europe? In 2021 an estimated 50% of Europe’s rice production came from Italy. That was mostly from the Piedmont area, near Milan.
  • Mondeghili – it’s not just the Scandinavians who can cook up a tasty meatball.

Love letters

We’re not talking about letter-writers of the Juliet Club in Verona, Milan has also been the scene of love stories for the ages.

At the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, you can read the touching letters sent between Lucrezia Borgia (from the infamous Borgia family) and her lover Pietro Bembo… who also happened to be her husband’s sister’s husband.

Lord Byron called the letters “the prettiest love letters in the world”. They also have a lock of her golden hair on display.

Bar Luce

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d walked into a Was Anderson film in this café… because you basically have done.

This Milanese café was designed entirely by the Hollywood director.

With strong pastel colours, vintage wallpaper and general quirky aesthetics, it’s an homage to 1950s Milan with Anderson’s unique twist.

He wanted the café to be a space that felt lived in, where writers could be inspired.

Bagni Misteriosi

The Mysterious Baths sound like an Agatha Christie novel. However, they’re the perfect way to take a dip and cool off when exploring the city.

Located in the Porta Romana district, the complex contains two large pools, a tennis court, a large terrace and a bar / restaurant.

The complex dates back to the 1930s, and has been restored so that modern users can enjoy it.

Milan Bingo Room

From one iconic Milan to another, Fabulous Bingo’s Milan Room hosts our Session Bingo.

That means that it works a little differently to our other city bingo rooms.
