Map reveals most dangerous place in UK for sexual assaults

THE most dangerous place in the UK for sexual assaults has been revealed.

Latest statistics show England and Wales saw 189,731 cases of sexual offences in 2022.

Now The Sun can reveal Cleveland is Britain’s hotspot - where the highest level of crimes per 1,000 population was reported.

The numbers are calculated to show the level of crime proportionate to the number of people who live there.

Although it is among the UK’s smallest forces, with just over 1,400 officers, Cleveland saw 4.5 cases of sexual offences per 1,000 people.

The area covered by Cleveland Police includes the county district boroughs of Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees, and Redcar.

Just two weeks ago Cleveland cops launched an urgent hunt after a woman in her 30s was raped behind a library in Hartlepool.

The second worst area is West Yorkshire where 4.1 acts were committed per capita last year.

Meanwhile Surrey sees the least amount of sexual crimes with just 2.1 per 1,000 people.

Surprisingly, per capita, crime-ridden London does not even place in the top 10 most dangerous places.

It places 34th with 2.9 per 1,000.

It comes as police are hunting a woman in London who allegedly sexually assaulted a man because he didn't link arms with her.

The incident happened on an escalator at Euston Underground Station, London, at around 9pm on Friday April 14.
