DOUBLE Oscar-winning actress Glenda Jackson has died aged 87 after a brief illness.
The actress-turned former Labour MP peacefully passed away this morning at her home in London, her agent said.
Glenda, who was known for both her time on screen and in parliament, was surrounded by family when she took her final breaths.
In a statement, her agent Lionel Larner said: "Glenda Jackson, two-time Academy Award-winning actress and politician, died peacefully at her home in Blackheath, London this morning after a brief illness with her family at her side.
"She recently completed filming 'The Great Escaper' in which she co-starred with Michael Caine."

Glenda won the Oscar for best actress in 1970 for Women In Love, and again three years later for A Touch Of Class.
The actress became known for a nude scene in the 1969 hit, where she was seen bare-chested with Oliver Reed.
But Glenda's accolades didn't stop there.
She was also awarded the CBE in the 1978 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to drama.
The actress then went on to win a Tony Award in 2018 - 60 years after she first stepped onto a stage.
She also won a Bafta for best actress in 2019 for her role in Elizabeth Is Missing, which followed the story of a woman suffering from dementia.
Glenda, who was born May 9, 1936, studied on a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1954.
Within three years she had made her professional stage debut.
Glenda initially retired from acting to stand for election in 1992 as an MP for Hampstead and Highgate.
She went on to become Junior Transport Minister under Tony Blair.

Glenda announced she would step down in 2015, and was still the only member of the British parliament to win an Oscar.
