To honour their incredible work, Alan and his team wanted to transform the couple's drab yard into a stunning space inspired by the classic book, The Secret Garden.
Alan suggested they turn the shed into a mock Tudor-inspired design with "ancient-looking follies" which would add "ruins" to the garden.
I'm a property expert - my guess for the cheapest time to buy a home this yearHe told viewers: "I want this new garden to make them feel as cared for as the children who come to their home."
But when viewers saw the finished result, some were far from impressed.
One wrote on Twitter: "Omg ! The 'Love your garden' people ruining that lovely garden ... with bricks and concrete! ! #loveyourgarden No thank you!"
Another tweeted: "It’s too crowded and busy for me but as long as they like it… #LoveYourGarden".
Thankfully, Rob and Margaret absolutely loved it, becoming tearful as soon as they saw it.
They told Alan: "Goodness me! It's the best I've seen it looking. Woah. Thank you so much. I can't believe it - it's just...."
Rob then added: "I knew it would be special but that's extra special. Thank you so much."
The emotions rose even further as Alan and Co invited dozens of the children the couple had fostered into the garden for a family reunion.
Love Your Garden airs Tuesdays at 8.30pm on ITV.
