Jeremy, 58, opened up on his long-running career and he reflected on what could be the eventual day of his "professional demise" from the business.

He currently presents the flagship daytime debate programme on Channel 5 as well as the lunchtime show on BBC Radio 2.

The station faced a crisis after it lost over one million listeners after Ken Bruce went to Greatest Hits Radio and Vanessa Feltz launched her drivetime show on TalkTV.

And although he has no plans to retire anytime soon, the broadcasting personality acknowledged that he is the oldest presenter at the publicly funded radio station.

He admitted: "We have to accept that because what you cannot do is say ‘how unfair’ - the unfairness is we’ve done it for so long.

"So, I think I’ll be cool with it actually, I think I will. I’m the oldest one now, I was the youngest one for ages, but I don’t really go for public panic.

"I’m so uncomfortable talking about my own professional demise. I can’t quite factor it in, and I do think that we all have to be aware that it’s coming for all of us."

Promoting the podcast episode, he tweeted: "Terrified (but delighted) to listen to latest @kayeadams podcast #HowToBe60 … with me … age, ahem, 58 … and Kaye’s hilarious mate Karen."

And fans flocked to social media as they declared their love for the unsuspected trio.

One listener wrote: "A good listen. Really enjoyed it."

According to the Express, another exclaimed: "Love this Jeremy! Nice to see a casual side to you and let loose a little bit."

Whilst a third commented: "Well done sir! A great listen and Kaye and Karen were the perfect hosts."
