LOVE Island star Samie Elishi has revealed her secret hospital dash amid her health battle.

The 23-year-old has been awaiting surgery ever since fans spotted a lump on her neck while she was on the ITV2 show.

Doctors, who fear it could be thyroid cancer, have been forced to postpone the operation after Samie caught tonsilitis.

She had been on holiday with her family when she came down with the virus and ended up on an IV drip.

After arriving back in the UK, Samie went straight to hospital and was given the upsetting news.

Speaking on her YouTube channel, Samie said: "I didn't realise how bad tonsillitis could be but I was on an IV drip on the cruise to try and get food and water in me because I couldn't eat or drink.

"Then as soon as I landed I was meant to go to the Beyoncé concert with PrettyLittleThing which I'm absolutely gutted I couldn't make but I had to land and go straight to the hospital.

"Me and my mum went straight to the hospital and got checked out because the antibiotics I got given on the cruise were wearing off so I had to be admitted into hospital here. So I was there almost over night and basically I didn't know this but you can't have surgery if you have an infection."

Samie was told in April by doctors she's grade three - and will have to have surgery in four to six weeks to have half of her thyroid removed, as well as the lump.

They will then test to see if it's cancer, and if it is, she will have to have a second surgery to have the other half removed.

Samie explained: "My surgery was meant to be a couple of days later after the cruise so it got postponed. Now it will be at the end of this month so it is quite soon now.

"I've had such amazing messages as well saying how helpful it has been me sharing my journey. People have found lumps in their throat and went to get it checked out.

"People have been sending me photos of the scarring which has healed because that's what I was worried about but I'm not anymore, I just want it over and done with. So yeah surgery is still going ahead it just got postponed."
