TAKE a look inside the real Happy Valley house where the hit BBC drama was filmed.

The owner of the terraced house used as Sergeant Catherine Cawood’s home in the hit drama said he got a surprise call from the show’s producers asking to use the property.

Murray Chalmers and his family moved into the property after the second series had aired in 2016.

The home’s kitchen and outdoor patio has featured often in all three runs, with many of Happy Valley’s key scenes playing out around the kitchen as well as the cobbled street at the back of the house.

Murray told the BBC he couldn’t live with the dark brick red colour that the kitchen was painted for the series, and preferred his more low-key sage green colour.

He said: “Just occasionally you'll look at bits in your kitchen, for instance, you'll think ‘My goodness, they've hung the mugs around the wrong way’.”

Asked if he thought there would be a happy ending for Sarah Lancashire’s character, he said: “I don’t know. Somewhere in between the two probably.”

The last ever episode of Sally Wainwright’s BBC One drama aired last night.

It saw a shocking conclusion as the murderer doused himself in petrol and set himself alight at the end of a clash with show heroine Sgt Catherine Cawood.

The final, nail-biting instalment ended with Tommy, played by James Norton, breaking into Catherine’s home where they row and he sets himself ablaze.

She then frantically jumped on him and smothered the flames and he could be heard moaning in agony beneath her.

Later, she received a text on her mobile that said: “TLR dead, hospital just rang.”

Earlier this week, The Sun revealed that Lancashire has set up her own TV production company with her TV executive husband Peter Salmon.

The couple filed papers last month creating Via Pictures.
