POP STAR Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to a backing dancer who performed with his group JLS.
The singer, 35, took to social media to share a heartfelt message after performer Jack Pointer Mackenzie tragically died at age 35.

Aston penned: "RIP captain," with a prayer hand and raised hand emojis.
He added: "Original JLS member."

The father-of-three shared a video of Jack showcasing his incredible dance skills on stage with the JLS boys.
He wrote: "Captain Jack always with the vibe from 2009 and beyond!!
"A phenomenal team member!"
Base Dance Studios took to Instagram to share a tribute message, alongside a photo of Jack, which read: "A unique gift, who shall be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
"Jack Nathaniel Pointer-Mackenzie."
Jack's cause of death is currently not known.
Many fans were quick to post their condolence messages.
One wrote: "A huge loss for the community. Love to his closest, and dearest. Fly High Jack."
Another posted: "A beautiful dancer, teacher and human."

Jack's funeral took place on 2 October, 2023, according to a tribute site.
He worked with a number of A-list stars throughout his career - including Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello and Hozier.
