Humphrey is joined by his fiancée Martha Lloyd after their nail-biting will-they-won’t-they romance reached its emotional finale in Saint Marie in 2017

The first trailer sees the detective meet one of the locals - played by Phil Daniels - who says: "You're the new fella at Shipton station everyone is talking about."

Humphrey replies: "Yes I am...so what are they saying?"

The fisherman says: "A bit odd."

The trailer then cuts to clips of Humphrey getting to grips with his new surrounding and various cases in his typical quirky style.

At one point Martha tells him lovingly: "Please try not to create any more havoc."

Kris, 49, first played DI Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise from 2014 to 2017.

Viewers were delighted when Humphrey took control of his destiny and followed Martha back to London to declare his undying love for her.

Now the couple embark on a new adventure as they arrive in Shipton Abbott, Martha’s hometown near the beautiful Devonshire coast, having left London.

As they embark on their new life whilst temporarily living with Martha’s mum Anne Lloyd (Barbara Flynn), the couple are quickly thrown in at the deep end as Martha sets out to pursue her dream of running her own restaurant and Humphrey joins the local police force.

Quickly making an impression on the somewhat eclectic team; DS Esther Williams, PC Kelby Hartford and Margo Martins, Humphrey sets out to help crack a host of baffling cases.

His arrival soon sees the Shipton Abbott squad witnessing a whole new approach to police work.

Each week the team will face a new crime with a unique puzzle at its heart - and unlike Death in Paradise - it isn't always a murder.
