FORMER President Bill Clinton has made a blunder while paying tribute to Rosalynn Carter, who died at the age of 96 on Sunday.

Clinton took to social media to express his and wife Hillary Clinton's condolences to the former first lady, however, the attached statement actually directed toward California Senator Dianne Feinstein.

"Rosalynn Carter was the embodiment of a life lived with purpose. My and Hillary's full statement," read the statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Attached was a photo of the Clintons' statement on the passing of Senator Feinstein.

"Hillary and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Senator Dianne Feinstein, a pioneering public servant who worked tirelessly on behalf of California and all of America throughout her long career."

Feinstein died on September 29 at the age of 90.

The comments were flooded with people who pointed out the mistake, with some even tweeting at Clinton's spokesperson, Angel Ureña.

"Attached wrong statement, President Bill!" wrote one person.

"Might wanna run your eyes over this one again, chief," wrote another person.

The tweet was soon deleted and replaced with the correct statement.

"Rosalynn Carter was a compassionate and committed champion of human dignity everywhere," it read.

"Throughout her long, remarkable life, she was an unwavering voice for the overlooked and underrepresented. Thanks to her mental health advocacy, more people live with better care and less stigma.

"Because of her early leadership on childhood immunization, millions of Americans have grown up healthier. And throughout her decades of work at the Carter Center and with Habitat for Humanity, she spread hope, health, and democracy across the globe.

"Rosalynn will forever be remembered as the embodiment of a life lived with purpose. Hillary and I are deeply grateful for her extraordinary service to our nation and world, and for more than forty years of friendship. Our prayers are with President Carter, Jack, Chip, Jeff, Amy, and the entire Carter family."

ON-AIR ERROR

This comes after NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson issued an apology after erroneously reporting that former President Jimmy Carter had also died.

"I'll just pass along to you that Rosalynn Carter, the wife of the late President Jimmy Carter, has died at the age of 96. Rosalynn Carter and Jimmy Carter were married for 77 years," said the RedZone announcer.

The error here is referring to President Carter as "late," denoting that he had died.

President Carter, while still in hospice, end of life care, is very much alive.

Within minutes of the mistake, Hanson corrected himself while on air.

"By the way, when I just shared the Rosalynn Carter information, I believe I accidentally said the late Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter, still alive, Rosalynn Carter has passed away at the age of 96," he said.

Hanson had only reported on Roslynn Carter's death because the scrolling text on the bottom of the RedZone program's screen blocked a special CBS announcement that she had died.

"Our crawl at the bottom of the screen was covering up the CBS News special report," explained Hanson before his errored report.

LIFETIME OF LOVE

Rosalynn Carter's death comes after she was diagnosed with dementia on May 30.

In February, The Carter Center revealed that the former president decided to spend the remainder of his days at home alongside his family.

He was the first to pay tribute in the statement of the former First Lady's death from The Carter Center.

"Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished," the oldest living former President of the United States said.

“She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”
