SILENT Witness fans have raged at the BBC not prioritising the show after its slot was canceled tonight in a scheduling shake up.

The crime drama airs weekly on Monday and Tuesday nights, but this week the second installment has been pushed back to Wednesday.

This is because the Beeb will be airing the FA Cup's fourth rematch live on Tuesday evening instead.

Impatient viewers can watch the new episode of Silent Witness on BBC iPlayer if they wish.

However, some people have taken to social media complaining that their viewing schedule for the week has been thrown off.

One person hit out: "Wednesday? Wednesday?! Come on now BBC!"

Another questioned: "Why mess around with the #SilentWitness schedule again? Not a simple Monday then Tuesday! Why not move the waste of airtime that is #TheApprentice to BBC Radio 0 not extra instead?"

A third asked the broadcaster: "And why isn't #silentwitness on tomorrow either?"

A fourth exclaimed: "Can Wednesday please hurry up, need some answers!"

Part of the reason why viewers are on tenterhooks is because Monday night's episode ended with a cliffhanger.

DI John Flynn and Elinor Shaw were left investigating the mysterious death of a man who was discovered dead by the Thames.

He seemed to have been impaled by a wooden post, but someone put false information in the toxicology report to make it look like an accident.

The victim's wife was then targeted next, but managed to escape by the skin of her teeth after hiding in a laundry basket.
