Jon Kay, 54, was missing in action as he failed to appear on the BBC morning offering as normal.

Instead, his place was taken on the programme by a familiar face.

Ben Thompson was on hand to lead the show with Sally having stepped in a number of times since the turn of the New Year.

The BBC programme has fallen foul to a series of presenting shake-ups in recent weeks with The Sun revealing how roving reporter Ben Boulos is to be missing from the for a whole month after fans were left concerned after he failed to appear on the show as usual.

The Leicestershire native, 39, has jetted off on an adventure-filled trip across the US.

Ben's expected back on screens later this month after his travels in New York, New Orleans and Washington DC.

Viewers had been shocked after Naga Munchetty also had an extended period of time off before returning to the show last week.

However, it appeared that many fans were left unimpressed by her return as they threatened to switch off after a series of controversial interviews by the 48 year old Beeb journalist.

Naga's return left fans at home polarised as she had an on-air clash with MP Chris Philp.

She probed the Policing Minster on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's comments in the House of Commons.

The PM hit out at Sir Keir Starmer over his trouble in describing a female — with Esther Ghey, the mum of murdered transgender teen Brianna, in Parliament.

Reacting to Naga's interview with Chris, one viewer said: "I love Naga."

A second wrote: "Wow! Naga has fired up her barbecue early this year."

"Why, Naga, do you continue to push when you are fully aware that the question won’t be answered the way you want it to be? Move on," fumed a third.
