A MANIAC abuser murdered his vulnerable partner to stop her testifying against him then killed his own brother before he could turn him in.

Psycho Peter Duffy, 47, throttled and stabbed young mum Emma Baillie before hiding her corpse under a pile of clothes on his couch.

He then fatally knifed  sibling John Paul, 51, to stop him going to cops  — concealing his body under a mountain of litter — and bludgeoned his pet cat with an axe.

Duffy denied the bloodbaths but jurors found him guilty of the “wicked killings”.

Judge Lord Scott said he could offer “no comfort” to  victims’ loved ones at the High Court in Glasgow.

Caging the brute for life, he told him: “You’ll be going to prison for a minimum period which will make you an old man before you’ll be considered for parole.”

The court heard how the fiend had been bailed not to approach Emma, 26, after being accused of bursting her nose and throwing her down stairs — but the trial didn’t go ahead after she failed to show.

Cops unravelled his brutality when they went to carry out a welfare check at John Paul’s home in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire on April 10, 2022.

After getting no answer despite hearing noises they forced their way in to the flat — and found John Paul’s cat Sher Khan  in a pool of blood in the hallway.

Duffy was found sleeping on the living room couch. When roused he claimed his older sibling was asleep in the bedroom.

But on closer look the cops uncovered John Paul’s body on the opposite sofa, under a huge pile of litter.

PC Emma Gibney, who made the gruesome discovery, told the trial: “His skin was grey, eyes white and he looked as if he had been there for a period of time due to the state of decomposition.”

She reported Duffy as then saying: “Treat me like an animal, I will treat you like an animal.”

A razor was found nearby  and a knife recovered in the fiend’s sock.

It emerged he had two neck wounds which he claimed were self-inflicted to make it look like he’d also been attacked.

Nurse Jordan Thompson told the court:  “He  thought he would get the blame. That’s why he had to do the injuries to himself.”

Emma’s body was discovered in a search of the thug’s home two days later.

Detective constable Nicola Batton told of a “smell I would never forget” on entering the pad.

The trial heard Duffy confessed to a fellow prisoner while behind bars. He told Brian Morrison  he stabbed Emma then  planned to blame his brother.

Detective Inspector Campbell Jackson  last night revealed shameless Duffy had gone on to use both his victims’ bank cards.

He added: “These were horrendous crimes and involved significant levels of violence.

“Our thoughts are with families and friends of John Paul and Emma.”
